ART PROMPT - #10 – Use tulle

Ribboned Mood -- In my mind I call it "Tulle Time"

See previous post here.

This quilt has been finished for a while but I just have not had time to blog about it.

I drew the design on the back, then covered the front with one piece of tulle at a time and stitched from the back and trimmed.

I then added trapunto (2 layers) it's a little more puffy than I wanted. Sorry, forgot to take photos of trapunto.

I like this orientation better, but it can be hung either way.

Quilt measures 38" x 15".

My “plan” has changed again! I like to call it a “plan” rather than rules. I don't seem to follow rules very well.

Waterloo County Quilter's Guild Trunk Show

I'm back!

Lack of posting has been due to several different circumstances, some unexpected (like a bad case of sciatica).

Another reason was that I was away, for a bit, doing a Trunk Show as Guest Speaker for the Waterloo County Quilter's Guild at their May meeting.

I visited a friend along the way and then spent a few days with Charlene Stevens who now lives in Kitchener and is a member of the Waterloo guild but was, for several years,a member of my guild, the Kirkland Lake Mile of Gold Quilter's Guild and a former student.

We had a great time visiting several quilt and fibre art shows and a few quilt shops.

I had the opportunity to meet Renske Helmuth, a member of the Waterloo guild, who organized the making of the wonderful quilt shown below.  Learn more about it on her blog here.

This African Theme quilt will be auctioned at the Mennonite Relief Sale. (sorry I can't remember the actual name of the quilt)

These were all small finished quilts made by guild members that Renske organized and designed into this beautiful quilt.  Two or three guild members sewed it together under her direction.

This quilt blew me away!!

There was enough small quilts left-over for another quilt.  Renske has the design in place and this to take place after a well-deserved rest.

CQA Best of Show

A phone call last night, from Marnie, who was attending the CQA National Juried Show in St Catherines made my day!

The Northern Ontario Fibre Artists (NOFA) are very excited and honoured to have won Best of Show in the Canadian Quilters Association National Juried Show.

Here is our entry “Seven Create”. It measures 10 feet by 55 inches.

The members of NOFA are Marie Black, Silvia Bos, Jane Hughes, Marnie Mascioli, Kit Ormsby, Karen Pilch and Terry Whyte.

I blogged about “Seven Create” here if you are interested about how this project started and progressed to completion.
