Mixed
Media #4
Red Sky at Night |
Red Sky
at Night is the fourth piece I made using the techniques from Angie
Hughes' book “Stitch, Cloth, Paper & Paint”. Blogging about
these pieces has made me realize that I really want to experiment
with more of this.
The
background was stitched and painted (as per Construction Techniques
below) in an abstract way. I embroidered both free motion and using
decorative stitches on my machine, couched strings before painting
the background.
detail - tree
The tree
was appliqued and thread painted, as was the grasses and background
trees.

This
piece was professionally framed.
